it's here...
At least in part, winter is here. It's not cold yet, but boy is it wet! Last night's ride was a bit of a baptism by fire, except that I'd dipped my toe in the night before, so I had already been partly baptised. Luckily though, I am fortunate enough to have been sent a pair of Endura's MT500 Spray Baggy - what lifesavers! If there's one thing, other than mud in your eye, that can ruin a ride, it's wet gritty mud up your back and below. I've only worn the MT500s on a couple of wet rides so far but first indications are they are awesome. Aside from that, mudguards are the future - I am surprised by this every winter, even though I first succumbed to the mtb mudguard thing in 1998. Despite my bike looking like this, I wore contact lenses, no glasses (too misty) and rode for an hour and a half through constant puddles and not one clump of crap went into my eyes. Aesthetics be damned!
Sure, I'm all waterproof shorts this and mudguards that now, but I'm not sure I'll be so cocky when the mercury drops 10 degrees...
