Super D Sunday Sunday 04 January 2015

4 January - Super D Sunday

Cross County vs Downhill | Lycra vs Flannel | Mate vs Mate | Hard Tail vs Full sus | 29ner vs 27.5

Let’s face it we all love to go down a hill rather than up, the Banshee Super D Sunday is the perfect mix of downhill and cross country trails packaged together into one fun 6 – 7km, 12-25 minute event.

After a shuttle trip to the top of the hill you will start as an individual weaving your way down through a mixture of native & pine trees with fast flowing single track, berms, tree roots, sweeping switch backs and the odd little hill climb.

This is a great event from the weekend warrior through the pro rider. There isn’t a whole lot of climbing so you don’t have to be super fit and any bike will do!

Any bike will do for a Super D race, but this category of racing is where the all-mountain/trail bikes with 4, 5, and 6 inches of travel can really excel.

If you’re thinking about getting into gravity enduro this is a great place to start.

Oh by the way, we are helping Lance with his “lance kranks it for kidneys” fundraiser, a big fiver from each rider goes in to the kitty!, Learn more by click the give a little menu.

Cruise up - race down… Welcome to the most fun you’ll ever have mountain biking.

The Giant 2W Gravity Enduro encapsulates everything people love about the sport of mountain biking – the adventure, challenge, adrenaline fix, combined with fun social riding; and at the same time teases out the little bit of competitiveness and thrill-seeker we all have inside of us.

Giant 2W Gravity Enduro invites you to come ride at your pace as an individual and also social team with your mates; catch shuttle busses to the tops of the hills (if you don’t feel like riding them!); then let rip racing down timed long flowing descents in the world famous Redwoods /Whakarewarewa Forest (Rotorua) trail network. Have some laughs and tell a few tales and enjoy some local comforts (good food and coffee) at the bottom, then share in some banter whilst cruising between race stages. If that's not enough, then the refreshments and awesome prizes that await at the finish are sure to seal an amazing experience.

Receiving rave reviews following the inaugural Giant 2W Gravity Enduro event within the Rotorua Bike Festival in February 2012, the event has gone from strength to strength to the point entries have begun to sell out well ahead of each event. This summer there are 3 opportunities to take part in this awesome event - on Sat. 4th Oct 2014, Sat. 13th Dec. 2014 & again on the final weekend of the Rotorua Bike Festival on Sat. 21st February 2015.
