DAM to PUB Quest for Gold Cycle Race Saturday 21 March 2015

Roxburgh dam to Beaumont, part of the Clutha Gold trail, is a must on anyone’s biking itinerary.

The smooth, wide and well- formed trail is suitable for riders of most abilities and fitness.

There is lots of variety, undulating to flat to meandering terrain. There is the odd tight corner, the odd long incline, some quick downhills  that serve to keep you, excuse the pun ‘on track’! The area is steeped in gold mining history, discarded relics of that bygone era, orchards, farms with sheep and cattle , rugged stone outcrops and stunning vistas of the Clutha River.

The 53km trail from Dam to Pub was tried and tested by 11 Rotarians from the Wanaka Club, at the end of January 2015 and was described by all as enjoyable, achievable and satisfying!

  • Start: 10:10am from Roxburgh Dam Carpark
  • The ride is 53k’s along the Clutha Gold Trail from Roxburgh Dam to Beaumont.
  • Prize Giving at The Grand Tavern, Roxburgh. 3.30pm
